Some of you may have noticed we have /another/ artist. Some may wonder why
we have a new one, when we already have so many? Well, I have two good
answers:
1) Very little art is actually being created by our current artists, and
at a very slow rate.
2) This:

'Nuff said. =D
October 13, 2004, 9:30 PM
Kutsu has agreed to draw pictures of our current
players' chars! I'll post them to the site when they're done. =3
Each of the current players can get ONE char drawn (so pick wisely!)
Just send me an email with what you
want your char to look like, if different from your charsheet. Else, send
an email stating no change from charsheet, and which char you want drawn.
You >must< send me an email! And it must be in before Oct. 20!
Pics will be done in a Kutsu Decides manner.
=3 Meaning, whenever she wants. ^.^
A NOTE FROM KUTSU:
I don't have too many copic markers so PLEASE try
not to make the outfits too flashy :P
In other news, I added the page for Khan.
October 13, 2004, 3:20 PM
All assignments have been mailed. If you find you need a time extension, contact me by Oct. 25 about it, and i'll give you one, no problemo. Also, if you're just too busy, feel free to refuse your asignment before Oct. 18.
I've removed Stratosblade and Macenzie. Neither of them ever completed any assignments or did any volunteer work.
Finally, i've done away with 'strikes', the 'point system', and all that mess. It's really not needed.
Also added a link to the 'tutorial page' for the newbie games.
Finally, I did some serious site cleaning. 1952 KB freed!
Have fun!
October 13, 2004, 12:00 AM
Due to an artist's withdrawal, we're short quite a bit of art. So i'll
be actively looking for new ones.
I'm also allocating out jobs today. You'll get an email. I know most
of you are inactive, and a few don't care to be staff anymore due to RL reasons.
If you don't respond to the email in 5 days, you'll be marked as former staff.
You can always join back anytime, I just want to keep note of who is and isn't
working.
Added a page on the Baal.
October 3, 2004, 12:00 AM
Added some info for Bulls, Boars, Beavers, Deer, and Echidna. More to come.
October 2, 2004, 4:00 PM
Well, it's about damn time. I'm finally really getting back
onboard. I'm trying to hire an artist to finish Severus' unfinished
species size chart. I've also got a new stealth staffer working under the
scenes. And i've got a new COMPLETED
species size chart (in text), so you can FINALLY get your proportions right!
I'm already working on species abilities and finishing up descs for them all.
Pics will follow at artists' speed.
It's due time to finish this!
August 24, 2004, 7:00 PM
Added a few more monsters, and updated the char database's charsheets.
August 22, 2004, 8:30 PM
Added Frogmen and Platypis under Tribals, and also re-listed all the monsters and such, now complete with a list of spells.
August 18, 2004, 11:00 PM
Another useless update. =D Updated the char database sheet, showing correct levels and also classes now. Also shows tamed pets/monsters and summons.
August 16, 2004, 8:00 PM
First update in over a month. Ohwell. It's a small one anyway. Added a bit to the beastiary, under Monsters and Beasts.
July 3, 2004, 4:00 PM
The latest version of BMF has been added. This should make it possible
to have projectiles and AP effects without annoying DM adjustments to the rolls.
Now, when attacking, you are prompted for if there is an Armor Peircing effect.
Also, seperate weapons/SKI and rolls are set aside for projectiles.
Thanks to Eila for the update!
June 10, 2004, 1:00 PM
Welcome our new artist, Glyph! Glyph does an excellent job at shading, if I do say so myself.
June 6, 2004, 9:00 AM
Fixed the issue with the links in the char database. All should work right, now. Also uploaded all the latest versions of the sheets.
Added new gear: Cutlasses, Awl-Pike, Light Crossbow, Beaked Axe, Lance,
and Pikes. The Lance can be used only when charging on a mount (IE, a
horse or Busharl).
Also added new armor: Barmail and Brigandine, as well as whole new
classes: Helmets, Gauntlets, and Boots.
May 27, 2004, 3:00 PM
Severus just completed the Bear pic, putting him at a 75% completion rate, and a +8 score. I've re-instated him as the head artist for PoP. Congrats, Sev! Keep up the good work. =3
May 23, 2004, 1:00 AM
I've assigned a bunch of new work. Check your emails and the site.
I've also incorporated a new points system to keep track of your performance.
Doing projects early earns 2 points, just doing them earns 1, being late earns
-1, and never doing it is -2.
You want to stay above 0. And you especially don't want to drop below -5.
I added the new system to give a bit more of a visible goal.
Projects are generally cancelled 20 days after they're due, or sooner if the project is especially vital.
May 20, 2004, 10:00 PM
New title pic by Severus Coil. Very spiffy! Also fixed the
Paladin pictures. Sowwy!
Also added Sev's pic for the Badgers.
And finally, game tonight at 7:00 PM EST.
May 15, 2004, 10:00 PM
Been busy IRL, so not a lot of updates or games as of late. Sorry all!
Added Severus' new pics to the site; See the Paladin class, and the
Armadillo species.
May 02, 2004, 12:00 AM
I added El Grande List o' metals. It's all the metals of the world, so far. I'm taking ideas for alloys and such.
April 27, 2004, 11:30 AM
No game tonight. I have to work 6-2. >.<
Aree had an idea that people who donate should be able to get a special item or skill that cannot be gained any other way. I though the idea rocked. So i've added a new section to Equipment that lists special artifacts that you can only gain by donating to PoP! These items will be either placed in an accessible location in the game (if your char is already in a game), or you may make a new char with them. Different items have different prices. I've also added a new section to keep up with these donation credits. Once spent, you can't get these items refunded until your character is deleted! You can spend and delete chars as often as you want.
April 26, 2004, 1:00 PM
Jeez. Long time no update! Sorry folks. RL has been SO hectic! But good news; Updates!
I got off my ass finally and did some mapwork. I have the overworld of
Sorpigal, Layloth, and Mountcrest. Mountcrest should be very fun;
The entire country is build in/on a mountain. So you'll have to navigate
through a maze of 17 caves to get there! It's not >too< hard. But
it's an adventure. ;) And it's worth it! Mountcrest is this
game's mining capitol. So the best equipment (non-enchanted anyway) can be
found here! Zenith City is the largest city in the continent, albeit not
the most populated. Built of stone and iron, and carved out of the
mountain, it's a bastion to Molish pride.
In the maze of caves, there's one that leads deep, deep into the underworld.
Nasty place, that. ;)
Also completed the first couple layers of Banias, which will be an extra-special side-quest which will, if done, completely change the game world(s) by adding another entire world; Asunder. Unlike Tyrael, Pyriel, and Gamriel, this world is extra-bizzarre. As we know, Pyriel is the main furry world. Gamriel is the huge swamp-world that the reptiles originate from. Tyrael, the most closely connected world to Pyriel, is where the Tinarell come from. A sun-scorched city of hot jungles and searing deserts. Now, Asunder, is a world entirely of another making, clearly not part of the world-shaping of the Tribunal gods. And i've made sure it fits it! I'll start work on the new critters for that world and post it just as soon as I finish this update.
Game at 7 tonight. May start early if everyone shows early! Let's get some progress done today!
I'm looking through the schedules, and i'm displeased. This will be reflected. 20 days and there's yet still unfinished projects...
Mar 20, 2004, 1:00 PM
Wheefun! I added the Samurai class (Bushi, Samurai, Shogun) to the
classes page. It's the ONLY class that can master Katana and Splintmail.
Enjoy!
NO GAME tonight. I gotta work 4-12. =/
Mar 17, 2004, 1:30 AM
Long time no update. Just got done with a game, and drafted the plans
for the MCE (Mass Combat Engine). I'll assign a programmer to this
shortly, if no one volunteers. This will be one of the most complicated
programs for PoP yet, so it'll be given good time.
The MCE is a program which allows for very large amounts of units to do combat
in a group. For example; 50 goblins versus 10 militia.
The MCE adds a Turn-based war strategy aspect to the P&P RPG element, and adds
some real flair and reason to classes such as Warlord and Knight. With the
ability to, literally, raise an army and declare war, conduct battle and conquer
lands, PoP will become rather interesting.
HERE is a draft of the MCE plans, and how it should work. Simple, in all. Add some graphics and you've got a simple Turn-based strategy game. XD
Mar 13, 2004, 12:30 PM
Well, the new MUCK is up. Thanks to Nivik for providing it! This
will be the new Base of Operations for the game. We'll hold ALL games
here!
All of you have chars already, except Seraph. I don't know how to contact
you Seraph! No IM or Email!
All Charsheets will be updated with email addresses, as per will be required. These will be for password retrieval only, and not displayed online.
WARNING: ALL CHARSHEETS SHOULD SAY V0.5! IF NOT, PLEASE CONTACT
ME WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, RL NAME, AND AGE!
RL name, Age, and Email will not be shown online. Failure to contact me
will result in your char being deleted within the next couple months.
Mar 12, 2004, 8:00 PM
Akira has cancelled tonight's game at the last minute. Sorry, AGAIN, folks.
Mar 11, 2004, 6:00 PM
Added the Drake page to the Beastiary. A few bug fixes, and I assigned some work; check your emails!
Mar 11, 2004, 6:00 PM
Sorry, but tonight's game is postponed until 8:30 to 9:00.
Mar 10, 2004, 1:00 AM
Due to increasing unreliability of Squeep.com (namely the fact that 86% of my uploads tonight have failed) PoP will be down Saturday Night to test the new server.
Mar 10, 2004, 11:30 PM
Just noticed a big goof on the game times for my game. Fixed now! Also added a new thing:
Mar 10, 2004, 11:30 PM
A few updates. Added Giant's Hammers and a page on the Fae. Also updated the schedules, and am very disappointed. Projects more than 3 months late and no word. If your name is on there under 'Projects Not Completed', it means I got tired of waiting and will assign it to someone else.
If you can't do a project, tell me. If you'll be late, tell me.
Better late than never.
If you just let a project expire; you waste my time, hold PoP up, and
generally hold us back. So don't do it.
In other, happier news, I've sold two PoP CDs already in my preliminary
sales. Next month I'll throw out the next version and sell them en masse,
hopefully making a lot of them go to happy homes. Check the 'funds' page
to see your balance.
Also updated Charsheets.
I'll be assigning new work soon. Be prepared~
Mar 8, 2004, 8:30 AM
BTW, the PoP CD is on sale.
Mar 7, 2004, 4:10 PM
Added the game schedule to the Games listing. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR INCARNATES IN BEFORE THURSDAY!
Mar 7, 2004, 3:30 PM
GAME ON! Tonight, I'll hold the first game for the new RP coming up. This game is specifically for Incarnates. Read below for details. A few changes have been made, also.
You can choose to have a char from one of the three choices below:
Existing Char (Import a char from another, non-active game)
Create a Native (Begins with a few skills and knowledge of their homelands, very
useful)
Be an Incarnate (Special ethereal warriors with elemental powers and special
skills)
Natives are just people who were born and raised in an area. They'll
have some of their society's common traits, and a thorough understanding of
their culture and mannerisms. Which is really useful.
Incarnate are created on the spot by the Gods to serve some divine purpose.
They begin weak, but quickly grow to immense power. They're like normal
furs in every way, but with a few differences; They were never born, but
created. They are extremely faithful to the diety they choose (even
completing crusades and gaining divine favor), and they control some special
powers; be they elemental or otherwise. An Incarnate of Earth, for
example, would pledge fealty to Daos, God of Earth. They would have high
defense and strength, and would command earth magics. They would, however,
suffer the penalties of an Earth Elemental.
One may choose to follow any of the planes of magic; Earth, Fire, Wind
Water, Mind, Body, Soul, Light, Dark, Electricity, Chrysm, and Gravity. Or
they may choose to follow a lesser deity; even a Voani.
This is a very open, and very self-configured game. There are few restrictions on this game!
Incarnates should see me at some point today between 5pm EST and 1am EST to RP out their creation, so that their char will be ready.
Natives:
You may choose to be a native of the following areas:
Jade Island (recommended species: Rat) Jade Islanders are a
tribal culture, and study healing and magics. Jade Islanders begin with
10% more MP, the Swimming proficiency, and 1 level in Herbology. They
speak with a Jamaican accent.
Sorpigal (recommended species: Skunk or Beaver) Sorpigal is a
small port town known for travel from the main continent to Jade Island.
It is also known for it's enormous Goblin population, and it's fort built to
defend it from them. Sorpigalians begin with 25% more defense.
Layloth (recommended species: badger) Layloth is the capitol
of the east country of Valsthelm, making up Sorpigal, Jade Island, and
Mountcrest. The King has fallen ill, leaving his young son, Hans, to rule
the throne. Laylothians begin with the Urban Survival proficiency, the
Diplomacy proficiency, and 25 extra gold.
Mountcrest (recommended species: Mole or Wolverine)
Mountcrest is the Valsthelm mining capitol. Mostly inhabited by molish
miners (called dwarves) and Wolverines (who are attracted by the fine
equipment), it is famous for quality metals. Mountcrestian moles begin
with the Mining proficiency, Smithing proficiency, and Tools for both.
Wolverines begin with a moderate-quality weapon of their choice, and a
Proficiency for it.
Sansobar (recommended species: Armadillo) Sansobarii live in
the harsh desert environment on the other side of Mountcrest. They begin
with the Desert Survival proficiency, and have a 10% resistance to fire.
Seni (recommended species: Bat) Senites occupy the swampy
region of the southern continent. The capitol of Darkmoor rules over it
and Sansobar, forming the smallest country. Senites are known for their
magics and cruel weapons. Senites begin with a special enchanted weapon.
Crotia (recommended species: Bear) Crotia is the largest
single area, forming half of the Gunsan country. Crotia inhabit the alpine
forests and hills of the north. They are very famous for their tamers and
trappers. Crotians begin with the Forest Survival proficiency, and a pet
or familiar of their choice.
White Plains (recommended species: Goat) The only area on the
continent where there is Sorophos activity, the White Plains of the northwest
make up a white, snowy landscape. White Plainsmen begin with 10% more MP,
and 10% resistance to Cold.
Listern (recommended species: Deer or Raccoon) Listern is
made up of mostly ancient oak and black forests. They are known for fine
bows and exotic woods. Listernians begin with the Forest Survival
Proficiency, and Projectile Proficiency.
Mist (recommended species: Otter) Mist is civilized by Otters
and White Plainsmen, but is still heavily threatened by the many special tribes
surrounding this archipelago. Many of the tribes are cannibals, and many
more are hostile, making it a dangerous place. Mistics begin with 5% more
MP, 10% more defense, and the Swimming proficiency.
Savages: The Savages of Mist are made up many species, mostly
sea-faring. They generally don't like civilization. Savages begin
with the Swimming Proficiency, 10% more attack, and a Tribal Tattoo.
People creating Natives should make normal chars, and specify and player-specific items. (Such as an enchanted weapon; Ask for a certain type, and what kind of enchantment. The power and type may differ from what you want, though! So don't be too vague or specific.) Send the sheets in ASAP!
Staff, please check your schedules. Some
of you are rather late.
Plus, I'll be putting you assigned work here.
If you can't do a project, or need more time, just contact me. I don't
penalize for being late or overly busy. Only for letting me down.
Also, the deadline for art on the first CD is Feb. 29. If you want the money cut from it, send in all your pics NOW via email. If you don't, your pics won't be there, and you won't get paid! Also, anyone wanting to submit stories or logs should do so ASAP.
Mar 6, 2004, 2:00 PM
The PoP Fundraiser CD goes into print TODAY. If you haven't sent your pics in, do it NOW.
Mar 6, 2004, 12:30 PM
Everyone welcome our newest member, Motoki! Motoki will help us with
the MUCK when we get it going. ^.^
Apologies to all for the lack of updates, I've been really busy IRL lately.
I'll try and pick up on it!
We have a new server! I'll be porting stuff over to it in time. I
hope to set up a staff-wide IMAP email address, so staff can conglomerate the
work on Charsheets and such.
Feb 25, 2004, 7:00 PM
Well, I'm back to working on PoP. We fought thinking maybe Furbid made
a mistake. But after they refused to help us, and even accused us of
forging emails and hacking their server (I'd like to see them take me to court
and prove it!), child pornography, harassment, circumventing security, and many
other bullshit accusations, they began harassing us personally in private emails
(which I made public) and LJ posts.
Furbid is nothing more than a Furry Nazi Depot. As such, I'll be posting
voluntary ads, free of charge, to promote alternatives to Furbid.
In happier (and more PoP related) news, I'm working on the new maps and such and updating the character databases and all.
Feb 25, 2004, 1:30 PM
I'm starting a new game. This one will be a little more linear than
Chazz's. It's not a dungeon-crawler specifically, but there will be a lot
of that.
There's a small continent in which chaos has erupted. Not like in
Hyarthis, but slow stuff. Monsters here, war there. Slow
degradation. But something big is brewing...
Chars may either choose to be travelers from another land (who arrive by ship
to an island resort, where the story begins) or a native who has come to the
island. If you choose to be a native, you MUST make a new char.
You'll get some special bonuses, though. Here's the areas you can be
native to:
Jade Island: An island resort. Jade Island is named for the stranger
jade colored hot springs on the island. Years ago, the Temple of the Sun
was here, but long left after settlers turned the place into a tourist
attraction. Living costs are high, but there's a lot of fun and games to
be had. Currently, there is a scavenger hunt. The winner gets a sum
of gold, and a small parcel of land back on the mainland! Natives of Jade
Island are usually tribal rats. They begin with Proficiencies
'Pathfinding' and 'Swimming'.
Demaria: The area where the Jade Island Scavenger Hunt's prize land is,
this area is known for years of turmoil. It's leaders never last long, for
whatever reason. It is the buffer between six different nations, many of
which don't get along with the other. Ancient battlefields make up most of
the landscape here. Demaria has a mixed population. Natives begin
with Proficiency 'Diplomacy'.
Praka: The forested lands of Praka are famous for the expensive and
ancient woods that come from them, and the most excellent bows and arrows
produced from them. Inhabited primarily by deer, the capitol city of
Sei'Tur is mostly made up of Raccoons. Natives come in two forms:
The Wyldlings and the Sylvans. They both live and cooperate in harmony.
The Wyldlings, mostly deer, are forest-dwellers known for their excellent druids
and nature magics. The Sylvan Raccoons are known for their Rangers and
excellent bows. Deer begin with proficiencies in 'Herb Lore' and
'Pathfinding'. Raccoons begin with 'Pathfinding' and 'Keen Eye'.
There is also a substantial population of squirrels.
Drok: The high northlands are rocky and harsh, and home to the tougher,
more bull-headed people. The land of Drok is inhabited by Moles,
Wolverines, and Boars, but also many others. The Boars have established a
fortress from which they rule. Drok is famous for it's weapons and the
mole-mines there. Natives begin with Proficiency in 'Mountain Climbing'.
Yuria: The capitol of Yuria houses the largest population on the
continent, made up of many mingled species, but generally favorable toward
badgers. Yuria is known for it's army, it's riches, and it's thieves.
Natives of Yuria begin with 'Urban Lore'.
Yttarbar: The island chain of Yttarbar (or 'Bitter-bar') is made up of
mostly tribes. The small city of Myst houses the central Mage Guild for
the continent, and is made up heavily of goats, though no Sorophos Towers exist.
The islands are very hostile, filled with cannibals and Tribals. Natives
of Myst begin with 'Magic Lore'. Wild/Tribal Natives begin with 'Swimming'
and 'Survival'.
Feb 15, 2004, 1:30 AM
Small update. Re-organized the Beastiary, and added a few entries under animals. Enjoy!
Feb 15, 2004, 1:30 AM
Sunday's game is cancelled. Blame Chazz. =3
Feb 12, 2004, 7:00 PM
Ding! Kamas, Warhammers, and Maces be ready, Yo!
Feb 12, 2004, 4:00 PM
Whee! Yay! Got some new equipment up in weapons. Tonfas, Kamas, Giant's Axe, and War Sickle. More soon!
Feb 12, 2004, 2:00 AM
Yay! And Kudos to Eila! Now we have a turn-roller that doesn't
SUCK!
Also, tomorrow's game is ON! I'll have the schedule up shortly.
Feb 11, 2004, 3:30 PM
Added some new herbs in the medicine page, and also added a page in FAQs/Tutorials page that lets you view PoP's server status. Now you can point and laugh at our pathetic little tugboat!
Feb 11, 2004, 1:00 AM
Added a few more herbs. I could use ideas on these, and also medicines! Any ideas are welcome. Also, anything with a ?? in it means it's a real-life herb, and I don't know where it grows. Mild helping me with those, too? ^.^
Feb 10, 2004, 6:30 PM
Added the base page to the Beastiary, and short explanations of each category. Everyone, send your ideas! Refrain from making suggestions to Tribals, Ferals, Voani, and Seraphim please. These are for moi to do.
Feb 10, 2004, 5:00 PM
Added a new class, Mendicant. Basically doctors. Also added some
herbs.
Soon, I'll also add Necromancers, Druids, Witches, and Dragon Warriors.
Feb 10, 2004, 1:00 PM
Okay, now to give the next batch of assignments! ("More work!?" - Peasant, Warcraft 2)
Alin Raven: I need you to do several equipment pictures. 1) Giant's Axe. Just draw a really, really large two-headed axe. Something too big for anything but the largest species to wield. 2) Kama. Basically, a small stick with a sickle-like blade at the end. Go look on google for more details. XD 3) War Sickle. Just draw a big sickle, kinda curvy serrated blade, and looking real nasty. 4) Giant's Hammer. Just one BIG hammer. 5) Mace. Just a short stick with a metal knob on the end. 6) Tonfa. Basically, it looks like a nightstick. 7) Warhammer. A small hammer with a large head, and curved head at the end, designed for smashing people in battle.
Feb 9, 2004, 1:30 PM
Okay, time y'all get to work. I've posted all your work on the 'Schedules' page, and also sent you all an email with what I need. If anyone has a problem with their schedule, just contact me. Having me change or cancel an assignment now is a small nuisance. Having it arrive late or not at all is a major annoyance. I don't like being annoyed. =3
Akira: I want you to get to those games. I've already got enough content set up for you to play not just one, but the next 5 days worth of games. If you can, get it running tonight. I need to relax. -.- I'm working from 10:30pm to 2am. If not tonight, then soon, I hope. -.-
Macenzie: You haven't done
anything for a while now, nor did the projects I've assigned. Contact me
NOW. I'm about to drop you from staff.
Don't say you've been too busy, either. Busy men can't spend 5 hours in
one day yiffing. >=/
Stratosblade: I'm pretty much about to drop you. I know you only joined because I asked, and you never even made a .txt file to >begin< writing the assignments I've given. You've never made a char, nor attended any games. Unless you contact me right now asking for work, and actually do the work, your off.
Nivik: I don't know if the server thing will work out. Turns out Charter doesn't allow servers on their residential lines, however small it is. So unless they have an affordable business plan, I'll need you to help me find an alternative place to host the PoP webpage and MUCK, as well as future PoP Email addresses and client. Squeep is also making some changes which are getting in the way of PoP's being hosted here, namely locking visitors out of directories... So it's urgent you help me find another place for us to go.
Eila: Finish that beta turn-roller I needed. It's due tomorrow, as per the time you set over a month ago. ^.^ Remember, it needs to be able to take about 20 chars, and will automatically align all input chars in order of their turn. They must allow for mid-roll changes that change the current output, not the total. So if a char has 10 SPD, each tick it goes 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, but if on turn 5 they get a -5 SPD penalty, it will go by 5. Make sure it doesn't reset the line to 5, 10, 15, 20... etc. But changes from that point. Like thus: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75. It's important that I keep real-time turns so I don't completely screw up the SPD system, which is the flaw with the current turn-roller.
Path'en: I like what you did with the Wyverns. So I'm going to have to you some more winged scalies for me. ^.^ I want you to do Drakes, NPC beasts. They're like the Wyvern, but smaller and less colorful (only either green or grey). They're meaner, have long sharp teeth, and are obviously predators. They're also covered in a lot of barbs and tiny spikes, almost like thorns. They're about 6' tall, not counting wings.
Severus Coil: Your really late on your species size project. I need that done ASAP. After that, I want to have you do another project, which I'll give you a lot of time (since you seem too busy to do them at a normal pace). I want a picture of the Otios. It's basically a big-ass pile of flesh. Take a really big ogre (like the Brute you drew) and stretch all his skin out 10 times it's normal length, so that his face is barely discernable, his 5-6 different chins hang down to his lower ribs, and his feet look like fat elephant's feet (or small trees, if you prefer). Give him a (mostly concealed under rolls of loose skin) Scalemail, and a large ball-ended mace.
Pilfer: We may not get along, but I still want you aboard. I need you to do the Fae, an NPC species. Basically, draw an anime-style Fae. They should wear nothing (but cover them in the picture with leaves or something. Remember, site's PG-13. =) and have long, flowing hair of either Green, Red, Light Blue, or Deep Blue. If you want, draw multiple ones in the picture (since Fae do travel in groups). They're about 3 1/2 inches tall, and have bug-like wings that flitter-flatter really fast, making them able to 'hover' and 'float' with them. They should look mostly human, but covered with large tufts of fur on the chest, upper feet (like a hobbit), and the opposite side of the wrists, and 'down below'. The fur is the same color as their hair. They should look friendly, but mischievous.
Conneich: You have a look PERFECT for our bestiary! I need you to do several critters for me. First, gryphons. They're non-morphic, and look just like the gryphons we know, with a few small changes. First, the front claws are bird-like and non-retractable talons. The back are like a lion's, retractable. That's about it. They're non-hostile normally, but very territorial, and look rather imposing. They're about 8'. Pretty damn big.
Kutsu: I need you to do a
few of the monsters. First, a Skeleton. Basically the bones of some
other playable species, without any skin or flesh. Maybe a bit of long,
wispy hair, and tattered rags for clothes, but that's it. They should look
mean, not lethargic, and carry just a lone scimitar.
Next, I need a wraith. Basically, a Wraith is a type of specter/ghoul.
It's only the upper half of a body, severed from the spine. The spine
hangs out about 4-5 feet, trailing over the ground, as the upper body floats.
The bone is exposed on the lower ribs, and the spine. The upper body is
zombie-like, and rotted. The face that of some predatory species (such as
a wolf). A Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger / Wolf) would be best.
Basically a really long muzzle jam-packed full of long, sharp teeth. It
should look /really/ mean. It's arms are normal up to the paws, which are
these huge, nasty-looking 4-fingered hands (3 fingers, 1 thumb) that are really
big, strong looking, and end with very long, sharp talon-like claws.
Wraiths are really mean.
Feb 3, 2004, 11:00 PM
And YES I'm serious. I've got enough to do setting up the PoP CD, handling Charsheets, working on the website, rationing out work, bitchslapping slackers, looking for and hiring new staff, and /trying/ to keep this thing together!
It's grown bigger than my britches.
Feb 3, 2004, 10:30 PM
Well, tonight was a total failure. I've quit early, and cancelled the next game. And frankly, I don't know if I want to continue this game. From the very first pose this RP started badly. People fought and refused to work together, NOONE came to the game prepared for the game. People admittedly were busy chatting, doing homework, one was even busy in a foursome on Taps I watched as they did it, failing to pay attention. Poses took forever, Aree nitpicked at every detail (as usual), noone seemed able to navigate at all, and one person never showed up, ever, once!
I don't know what to do. I'm disgusted. It's this kinda crap that made me quit F&F. I thought if I changed the game, it would go away. Apparently not. I feel, and as you've all made it clear tonight after the game, you feel, I am not a capable DM. So as such, if any future games occur... they won't be from me.
Akira, as our head DM, is now in charge of games. Maybe you can prove a better job can be done than mine by spending hours of your own life trying to please every single bitch gripe moan and nitpick of each of the players, setting up worlds, games, towns, maps, dungeons, stats, treasures, balancing the game, making Charsheets and NPCs, planning stories, making sure the game isn't linear but still complete, managing the players, being detailed, remain exciting, and not burn yourself out.
I'm tired. I've just wasted 9 freaking days of my life making 1
overworld, 4 towns, a castle, 9 dungeons, countless NPCs, dozens of monsters,
and every little detail that goes into making a game less of a game and more of
an interactive immersive world.
I'm toast.
So Akira, it's your turn. I'll send you all the crap for the current game
if you want, so you can continue it. Or you can make your own.
Either way, I'm tired of DMing. I want to relax. So if I do PoP
games again, it'll be as a player. With my job having me work 6pm-2am
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and possibly Monday and Tuesday, I'm TOO
TIRED for this. TOO BURNED OUT. And TOO SPENT.
So I quit.
Feb 3, 2004, 4:00 PM
There are some concerns with the game last night with chars not working
together. And it's not just one person. I've talked with everyone,
so there's no excuses. Disagreeing IC is good RP. Fighting outright
just ruins the game. So I suggest you ALL start working like a team, like
you did last game! Kay?
This game is going to be twice as difficult as the last. So if you don't
work together, you >will< die quickly. Noone will survive without
everyone.
Feb 2, 2004, 1:30 PM
Got the clerical spells done. =3
Feb 1, 2004, 2:30 PM
Added a new section: Spells! I got a bunch of sorcery spells down
(that being spells Mages use). I'll work on Clerical, Necromantic,
Druidic, Herbal, and Ritual spells later, and add the respective classes.
(Necromancer for Necromancy, Druids for Druidism, Mendicants for Herbalism, and
Witches for Rituals.)
If you have any ideas for Sorcery spells, send 'em in! I could really use
some help in a few classes of magic.
Feb 1, 2004, 2:10 AM
In an attempt to best organize times, I've added a time table underneath the game. PLEASE CHECK THIS EVERY SINGLE DAY, ASAP!
Feb 1, 2004, 2:00 AM
The first day of the next official RP will be Monday (Feb. 2) at 5:00 PM EST.
You MUST have a char ready and be there to have a lead char in the game!
You also must make at least 2/3 of all the weekly games. If you can't meet
one of these requirements, CONTACT ME BEFORE THE GAME! Failure to do so
>will< cost you a char. If you contact me, we can make arrangements.
The games won't be daily anymore, since I have a job now. But they will
continue!
Let the games BEGIN!
Jan 31, 2004, 3:00 AM
Worked 'til 3 at The Bell. Now I'm cooling off before I go to bed, working on a spell list for PoP. Kirigaloo, working ten times harder than the rest of the staff combined!
Jan 30, 2004, 9:30 PM
Well, I'm off to work. Please send in ideas for monsters and beasts and animals and such! And if you can draw, feel free to doodle some of the critters.
Jan 30, 2004, 8:00 PM
Got some new ideas for monsters! Check them out
HERE! Thanks to
Aree, Akira, and Severus for some of them!
Also, thanks to Severus for these two new critters:

The Brute (Left), and The Cursed (right). Thanks, Severus!
Jan 30, 2004, 4:00 PM
Gruff. I work from 10pm-1am tonight and tomorrow, Sunday from 10pm-2am, and possibly Monday and Tuesday. Taco Bell has left me with little time for games! Hopefully soon though I'll get some days open. When we do start RPing, though, PLEASE keep logs! I may lose mine.
In other news, thank Jason James for the new pics! He did one for Rabbits, the Galleon family of Rats, and Squirrels. They're a bit large and uncolored, but they're better than nothing! Hopefully Jason will agree to be staff, soon. =3
Jan 28, 2004, 12:00 PM
Welcome our new staffer, Kutsu! He'll be helping us draw art. ^.^
I've posted all the filled positions on the upcoming RP under the game page, and also added some new info, and new rules. PLEASE READ THEM.
I'm feeling fine, now. Clearly, I don't have pneumonia. Prolly just inhaled a bunch of mildew whilst cleaning yesterday, I'm feeling a lot better now. Still phlegm-y and sick, but just cold-ish-ly so.
Made changes to Thieves. 'Steal' was misleading, I changed it to
Thievery, noting that it encompasses all thief-like activities including lock
picking and trap disarming.
I bumped the healers' healing ability to make it more substantial, and also made
them able to cast spells sooner.
And I got my new HDD! A friend lent me the $30 I needed, so the new drive should be in any day now! So from now on, all money goes to the PoP server. ^.^
Jan 27, 2004, 5:00 PM
I worked until 3 AM last night. I was soaked from dishwashing, and froze halfway through the freezing night air. When I got back, I didn't sleep well, and had to fix a PC at 12 PM. I am now VIOLENTLY ill, enough that I am seeing a doctor immediately. I have a fever of 103, severe nausea, and difficulty breathing. The symptoms came on frighteningly fast, all within only an hour. I'm experiencing tunnel vision, severe dizziness, and chills, and frankly I'm scared. I've never been this ill before.
In other news, the RP will occur shortly. I'm making some changes to
the system. Minor things, some aesthetic changes to thieves, quicker magic
capabilities on the Healer path and improved effect, and making the maps for the
new RP.
I know many of you (*Cough Aree Cough*) want to get the game underway really
soon, so there's a few things you can do to help:
If you can draw, draw some pictures of the monsters listed on the older news
update.
Come up with ideas for new monsters, and especially wild animals and beasts for
the over world.
Make your char if you don't have one, and send it in NOW!
Send me >any< ideas you have. Never feel shy. You never know, I may
just use it!
Jan 26, 2004, 1:30 PM
Early this morning, the Bishop, Kyle, and Jade were seen entering the cave.
Hours later, the volcano began to erupt, spewing ash down on the camp.
Noone was hurt, but everyone was frightened. They reported seeing a great
ball of fire leaping from the volcano, off into the horizon. Akira, Jade,
Nivik, and Kyle returned shortly after, a bit beaten up, but alive.
Unfortunately, the Bishop didn't make it.
The Voani behind the demons in the cave, Medusa, has been slain. The brave
souls who fought against the forces of darkness will be remembered fondly.
In other news, no game tonight, I have to work from 8-12 tonight. Be preparing your chars. And also help me come up with new ideas for monsters!
Jan 24, 2004, 10:30 AM
In preparation for the new upcoming game, I need volunteers to draw some of the baddies! Contact me for details, or see the list HERE
IC news: The camp was attacked again yesterday, but the new guards have proven their mettle, fending off the attackers without injury. Kyle encountered a wastrel from the cave, and contracted a fatal illness. He and his party have entered the cave. Noone expects them to return...
Jan 21, 2004, 6:00 PM
O... kay. Uniform never came, so game on!
Jan 21, 2004, 2:00 PM
No game tonight. I've got to work from 8-12. Sorry! But I needs me cash, arr!
In other news (IC):
The beavers have begun work on a new stable to carry people to and from the
camp, which will hopefully make travel and shipments faster.
Talloon has a new shipment, nothing amazing except a sulfur bomb.
Adventurers have begun entering and returning from the cave again, all signs
good. One claims to have completed a map of the entire caverns' bottom
floor, and is offering to sell a copy of the map for 100gp.
Mondain has a new ring.
Jan 19, 2004, 6:10 PM
Did some changes to spells. Now, Missile deals 1/2 of your INT in
damage, never misses, and costs INT MP to cast. It never misses.
Bolt now deals 1-2 damage per MP spent. INT vs. INT roll to resist.
They were a bit too powerful, and Bolt may yet still be in the damage factor.
We'll see.
Jan 19, 2004, 10:30 AM
After a legion of undead attacked yesterday, it has been decided the threat of the cave is much higher than anticipated. The last remaining guard was killed, and reinforcements had to be sent for. They arrived today, two well-armed, well-trained soldiers, a good step up from the town guards who perished.
Just before yesterday's attack, three adventurers went missing, leaving only five in the camp, consisting of Akira, Flak, Jade, Nivik, and Manillo. Adventurers are asked to travel in parties of at least two, and come well armed with medical supplies. The cave is much more dangerous than we thought.
Jan 17, 2004, 6:00 PM
Nothing much in the news of combat. Guards are on high alert, and asked
yesterday that noone enter the cave until reinforcements arrive. They're
due tomorrow.
The Inn has been completed and opened very early this morning. A wagon has
already delivered food and drink, though limited in choice. The inn is
small, just four rooms. But the innkeep will add on as need arises.
Jan 15, 2004, 6:13 PM
Very interesting developments. Three of the camp residents reported
seeing 'giant jellyfish and black tentacles' in the ocean. However a guard
search revealed no signs of such things there. Most are sure it was a sick
hoax, but the coast was watched still.
The next day, people awoke to the sounds of battle. A raiding party
assaulted the camp, consisting of two goblins, two orcs, a troll, and some sort
of shadow demon. With the help of the adventurers, the attack was fought
off, but not without casualties. One guard was killed, and another
severely wounded. Questions are being severely asked about the safety of
the camp's occupants, as the attacks become increasingly prevalent. All
camp-goers are heavily advised to arm up and be prepared for another assault at
any time.
In other news, please help Blaque out! She just
got framed for car tag theft, and has a $700 fine! She doesn't even have
$100, so if she can't get the money by Feb. 16, she may go to jail and we may
not see her art again for a very long time!
FOR 24 HOURS ONLY, BIRTHDAY EDITION 320+ PIC CD FOR $27!

Jan 14, 2004, 6:13 PM
No big news.
Talloon has an interesting new shipment today. Such new items as a
Pendulum and Sulfur Bomb now adorn his stuffed weapon wall. He's
contracted the beavers to construct him a larger shop as soon as they're free.
A new wagon has arrived with an old man who collects old things. His shop
holds many unusual objects, but he comes mostly to purchase things found in the
caves. He pays very well!
Jan 11, 2004, 10:40 AM
On the Fourth day, a group of creatures left the cave and assaulted the camp. One adventurer was killed, and a guard wounded. Concerns have been raised as to the safety of those on this expedition.
In OOC news, we have an update to BMF. This update fixed a problem with
the proficiencies.
I also need some artists to volunteer for drawing a few of the beasties.
Contact me for details.
Jan 10, 2004, 11:45 AM
After the Second day of the encampment, the adventurers have traveled deeper, and encountered enormous sandworms.
After the Third day, The Church has sent in a lone Priest to tend to the ill and unfortunate. This priest is providing healing and restoration for a small fee, and selling medical supplies.
On the third day..
In an expedition, the adventurer known as Flak has been poisoned by a vicious
overgrown spider, and lost consciousness. He is in critical condition, but
expected to make a full recovery.
A Healer has joined the Priest in aiding the wounded, and brought more healing
supplies. Prices for healing supplies have dropped thusly.
Talloon has received a new stock of equipment.
The Callahan Company has arrived, a troupe of five beavers offering to build
structures for any who need them, for a price of course. They have begun
construction part-time of an Inn under the King's direction.
Jan 5, 2004, 2:00 PM
Game is on tonight! I may be a bit lamer than usual in posts,
but I finally feel good enough to RP.
RP News:
The first day after setting up camp, several brave adventurers entered the cave
and captured a lone goblin, slaying several others. Attempts at
interrogating the goblin have failed, as it seems incapable of understanding
speech. The guards have prepared a makeshift prison for it. The
Baron has sent reinforcements solely to guarding the mouth of the cave and the
camp, but not to venture inside.
Also, a traveling arms merchant named Talloon and a tailor named Jagar have set
up shop in the camp, selling their wares to needy adventurers and buying
whatever they find in the cave. More merchants are sure to follow.
Jan 4, 2004, 7:32 PM
Sorry, but tonight's game is CANCELLED. I'm still sick. Really, I hope this passes soon.
Jan 3, 2004, 7:33 PM
Sorry, but tonight's game is CANCELLED. I'm quite ill with the flu. Hopefully next game is tomorrow.
Jan 1, 2004, 7:33 PM
It's 7:33 and noone showed up. Game cancelled.
I suggest none of you page me unless it's to bear good news, or your name is
Severus Coil. I'm in a very foul mood now.
Jan 1, 2004, 6:50 PM
Well I'm back in time, so GAME ON! However, in BAD NEWS, Fluffy Kau has
asked we not use any of her art for F&F anymore. So this eliminates over
half of our current art. We've lost 5 out of 7 pictures, 71%
We now need artists more than ever.
Jan 1, 2004, 2:50 PM
I may be late to the game tonight. Getting drug off to a New Year's Dinner. If I'm not around by 8, assume I won't make it tonight, and come back on Jan. 2. I am very sorry for this.
Dec. 31, 2003, 12:54 PM
Ha-ha! I lied! Another update, nothing big. Fixed a typo in the equipment index, and added descriptions for all the equipment in the weapons section which has an accompanying picture. I'll do the 50+ other things later.. right now, I shower! *Blub blub*
Dec. 30, 2003, 2:40 PM
For the last update (mebbe) of the year, I got a big one. Lot of work,
if not a great impact. Adjusted some of the info on the Game, added GMUD
to the downloads section, adjusted the Stat tutorials to adhere to the new
rules, and biggest of all added the Clothes group in equipment. It lists
the clothing styles of all the various species, subspecies, and cultures.
I'll elaborate on them later. I probably won't assign artists to draw most
of these, and just leave them here for voluntary projects (such as for practice)
for artists.
Oh, and Kudos to Pilfer for the wonderful Rabbit picture. ^.^
And I've removed Eila's strike. She's done good work with the Chargen beta and especially the battle roller. I feel she's doing a fine job. If anyone has a problem with this, they know where to email me. =3
Dec. 29, 2003, 11:41 AM
After receiving a REALLY retarded Charsheet, I've reviewed the Charsheet
tutorial to troubleshoot some.. common.. problems.... It's been upgraded from
Charsheets for Dummies into Charsheets for Idiots. I severely doubt any
capable role-players would be unable to make a sheet now. I doubt many
Incapable role-players could have trouble making a sheet...
You can see the stupidest Charsheet I've ever seen in 3 years of being a DM by
clicking the link to it on the Charsheet tutorial.
Dec. 29, 2003, 1:40 AM
A bigger update! I've added the Bear data page, along with a new item in the tutorials and FAQs section. The Historic Timeline, giving a (very) brief overview of the history of Pyriel. I'll expand on this and explain things in greater detail as time goes on. Also added the combat page to the Tutorials and FAQs. It includes a list of status changes and how combat works. I also uploaded the DM tools to the tutorial/FAQ page.
Dec. 29, 2003, 11:41 AM
Another small update. Added some new links to the main page, and closed
the poll. Results: 46% (11) would never support PoP, ever, for any
reason. 25% (6) would support it if it was under $10. 25% (6) would
support it for $10-$25, and 4% (1) would pay over $25 to help us out.
Fairly encouraging figures, really. A tad over half will support us:
That's way better than Furc!
Dec. 29, 2003, 1:40 AM
Welcome a new staffer! Conneich, a new artist! Behold, the power
of the Horde! [Cheap music from a band named after a video game]
Seriously, though. We're getting a lot of new arrivals, and it makes me
happy!
Dec. 28, 2003, 7:42 PM
Small update. Added the info for the Bats into the species list. This will give you all a glimpse into the still-working-on history.
Dec. 26, 2003, 9:15 PM
All welcome our newest staff member, and an integral step towards freedom! PoP welcomes Nivik, who will lead project Thunderbird. The project is going to be the setup of a dedicated HTTP and MUCK server. I just named it Project Thunderbird because it sounded cool. Nonetheless, she'll be setting up and programming the barebones for the MUCK, and also educating me on how to run and add onto it. I'll be setting up the HTTP server and such mostly myself, though with her assistance. This is all good news, which means we'll have much more freedom to do shizat on PoP's website, without worry of making fEk's server fubar. I plan to set up our own domain name (www.somethingoranother.com) and have all kindsa koo stuffs. I still need a MUF programmer, though, as that would probably be best for setting up a MUCK-side Chargen, roller programs, and also BMF. Soon, my friends, soon. PoP will not just be some upstart Furc guild. It shall be... AN UPSTART MUCK! (Gasp!)
Before we can begin, though, I need to get that HDD...
Dec. 26, 2003, 9:15 PM
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Your head DM is proud to announce a new daily game to start at 7 PM EST on January 1st. So far, it's a 7-map dungeon (Which is REALLY FREAKIN' BIG!) which branches into many paths. Along the way, depending which way you go, you'll fight giant worms, dragons, the undead and their necromancer masters, nasty parasitic things, trolls, and if your really unlucky, demons. I'm not even done with the entire super-dungeon, but I've got enough now to keep the game going for at least a week.
I'll be adding yet more and yet more as we go along. This game will
last a very long time. ;) It'll be the playground for testing all
sorts of new things in the game. Now remember, we're still in ALPHA
testing. So the game is guaranteed to be imbalanced. So no
complaining about things. I'll adjust the system daily as we go along.
So if you get killed or the system is against you, just take it like a man (or
woman). It'll be fixed. It's not like winning or losing will matter
in the long run. After the game goes Beta (which could be many months yet)
there will be a character wipe. Donators get to keep their monies for
donations forever, though. So a donation is a gift that just keeps on
giving!
Any questions, contact me, Kirigaloo. I'll be answering emails all
January.
Dec. 26, 2003, 4:00 PM
Or.. not. Seems Aree managed to trick AOL into giving him a free month! So yeah, he's still around. =3
Dec. 24, 2003, 8:02 PM
Merry Jesusmas, everybody! Welcome our new artist and writer (artist WHEE!), Pilfer! She's pretty talented, and has experience in making stuff for games like this. So I 'spect everyone to give her a warm welcome! Leaving for a short vacation is Aree, who has helped us a lot. We expect him back in a few weeks, though!
On other news, I'm working on the next big daily RP. This one will be a dungeon crawler. Expect it early to mid January.
Dec. 22, 2003, 1:07 PM
Well, I got set from $40 to $30 after paying the internet bill. My HDD fund dwindles. ;.; I hope I get a job soon, else I may be gone a while...
Dec. 21, 2003, 10:57 PM
Not much new. Got a pic for Bishops in, and changed the index page a bit. I'm learning CSS, so I'll be redesigning the site to be easier to navigate and more aesthetically pleasing.
Dec. 20, 2003, 6:30 PM
I've changed the stat and leveling system. Now, instead of gaining points only from spending, you gain points based on a set algorithm. Your modifier indicates how much it will increase. So if you have 5 SPD, and a 1.5 modifier, level 2 makes you have 6.5 SPD. Or if you have 5 SPD and a 0.25 modifier, you level to 5.25 SPD. This is a lot less lopsided, as some species could soar to 14+ SPD almost on Chargen, while others would have 1 SPD with armor. That gives one /FOURTEEN ATTACKS/ for every one on the other. Very, very unfair. So here's the new system in a nutshell: Your stats increase by adding your modifier each level. SKI doesn't increase. You also gain 1 SP (Stat Point) per level to get a 'boost' on something, gaining an extra level for that. So if you have 5 SPD and a modifier of 1, level 2 makes you have 6 SPD, and you can spend your SP to make for 7. This is a much more balanced system from my test battles. Also, all new chars begin with 4 in every stat. After all, a new char is, technically, inexperienced. So a warrior who's never fought wouldn't really know more about fighting than a laborer who's never fought.
Charsheets are reset. You'll need to look them over to see if you approve. You'll also need to allocate your SP. The number in parenthesis by your level is your SP. I also removed the NPCs, since those won't be used anymore anyway. All NPCs will be kept DM-side now, and not clutter the charDB.
Some Xmas present, huh? =D
Dec. 17, 2003, 2:00 PM
Just put up the Medium and Huge species size chart. Also, Thieves now have a class picture demonstration. Thanks to Severus for all of these!
Dec. 16, 2003, 7:30 PM
People, please don't email me about BMF (the battle roller). I didn't make it, I can't fix it. Email Eila!
Dec. 14, 2003, 6:30 PM
Yay! The battle roller is done. Download it HERE. Now before you scream, it IS a command prompt, and it's not fool proof (because it's not for fools) Do NOT put text into a numeric field. Other than that, it works fine. Now I can kill shit to my heart's content. ;) I'll get to work on a dungeon crawler right away. Kudos to Eila for getting it done. ^.^
Dec. 12, 2003, 2:00 PM
The tourney is over. Razorback won. So there won't be a game at 7 tonight. I'll be putting together a new game soon.
Dec. 9, 2003, 3:47 PM
Just added the info page for Armadillos. It's not much, but it's a good barebones. I now feel very ill.
Dec. 9, 2003, 1:11 PM
I've added some new stuff. Gems for the Reagents section and a few items for mages in Misc. Also the toolkits for the various Laborer's jobs.
Dec. 9, 2003, 11:06 AM
I've made some changes to the combat system, namely in how armor works. Armor used to soak a fraction of your DEF. Now it just soaks a set amount based on the armor. Higher-quality armor, however, does soak a fraction of the damage, making some a lot more useful for higher-level players. The current algorithm is thus:
Attacker rolls (SKI)+[Proficiency]
Defender rolls (SKI)+[Proficiency]
If Defender has [Block]
If Defender has [Shield]
If Attacker<Defender, miss
If Attacker>Defender, roll damage
If Attacker=2xDefender, roll critical
If Attacker>Defender, but Attacker< or = [Block], roll block
If Attacker=Defender, reroll
damage:
(Attacker's ATK)+(Attacker's Weapon ATK) - (Defender's DEF)+[Armor Soak*]
critical:
[Attacker's maximum ATK roll]+(Attacker's ATK)+(Attacker's weapon ATK) -
(Defender's DEF)+[Armor Soak*]
block:
(Attacker's ATK)+(Attacker's Weapon ATK) - (Defender's DEF)+[Shield]+[Armor
Soak*]
Anything in (parenthesis) is an input with roll format (IE, 1-6, 2-4, etc.)
Anything in [brackets] is a static number (IE 4, 6, 2) and NOT rolled.
*= Armor Soak is displayed in a %, or a fraction. Usually 1/2, or 1/4 (25% or
50%) For this, take the current outcome
of the roll and subtract the percentage. So if a roll resulted in 10 damage
after all the calculations, and they have
1/2 soak (or 50%) then it would result in 5.
Now I just need for a programmer to code up a simple applet for me to use that will perform an entire attack turn at the press of a button to make combat move at the speed of asskicking. However all the programmers are too busy to do it right now. So you'll all have to deal with slow combat until then. Sorry.
I also changed armor. Your Charsheets have been updated accordingly. The only truly massive change was with Splintmail, which got a whole lot better. I'll suffer no penalty to people who purchased it before this change, though the price for it has doubled.
Dec. 5, 2003, 12:43 PM
Tonight's game is cancelled. I got some RL stuff I need to work on. Sorry guys.
Dec. 4, 2003, 3:09 PM
Tonight's game is cancelled. I need to do some stuff and don't really feel like a game tonight. The next game will be tomorrow, same PoP time, same PoP channel.
Added felines' various subspecies.
Hedgehogs are D-E-D dead! =3
Dec. 3, 2003, 1:46 PM
I've upgraded all the chars in the character database to v0.2. Check over them to make sure it hasn't too horribly ruined your plans. If it has, just let me know and I'll either delete it, let you remake it, or let you make another char. Or a combination of those. Also adjusted the 'Missile' skill used by Apprentices. It was dealing too much damage for too little cost. It now does the same, but has a charge time and 5 times more MP cost.
I did this all a LOT faster than I expected, which means.. Tonight's game IS STILL ON!
Dec. 3, 2003, 12:43 PM
I've changed the stats of all the species to be more balanced. Now, SKI is much higher. It will also now be risible using SP gained from levels. The MOD for SKI is always 1.
All your chars are obsolete! I'll upgrade them to PoP v0.2 as soon as I get time.
Dec. 3, 2003, 11:31 AM
After last night's game I've planned out everything I need to change.
First, SKI is far too low for new characters, and will need to be adjusted.
Second, SPD is too useless, so I'll be re-implementing the F&F turn counter.
Thirdly, I think some of the stats for the species need to be adjusted.
And finally, some species should have special attacks, since some have teeth and
claws and such. The game is postponed until further notice (which will be
when I get these problems addressed)
Thanks to everyone who showed up and helped in the testing!
Dec. 2, 2003, 12:54 PM
I added a new way to get a character made, since people are having so much trouble with the stats system (which is understandable). This will serve as our 'easy way' to make chars, until the Chargen program is done.
Dec. 1, 2003, 7:05 PM
Okay, people, PLEASE. Do not send Charsheets via AIM or Furc, you MUST, MUST, MUST...
EMAIL THEM!
Okay? Okay!
And furthermore...
IF YOU DO NOT INCLUDE A DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY, YOU WILL NOT GET A CHARACTER!
The rules are simple, folks. Stop making my job harder than it already is.
Dec. 1, 2003, 1:36 PM
Possums, Thylacines, and Devils have been removed as per popular vote. Sorry guys, but.. BALEETED!
Now that the system is heavily under place, I'll start scheduling the first games. Check the Games section for active games and their rules. Apologies to those playing Felines, Canines, Rodents, Avians, and Reptiles. These species are not complete yet. Expect them done soon.
Nov 30, 2003, 4:15 PM
I work too hard. I need a break. Just added a 'to do' list to keep track of what we need done and how far we've gotten on it.
Nov 30, 2003, 2:30 PM
Added 'taurs and their stats to the Species Reference to make it easier for 'taur characters to make.. well.. 'taurs. Also added info about them to the Mutations and Ailments area. Future Mutations and Ailments: Vampirism and Shapeshifters.
Also edited the tutorial to remove the confusing 'Taur references. Just treat making a 'taur the same as you do any other species. Pay attention to the parents and sexes list in Mutations and Ailments, though. Some have limitations, IE no male Hinds and the mother for some must be Feral or Anthro, due to size limitations. A small 2' Feral Fox can't give birth to a 6' Vulpitaur, after all.

Whoa, burning the midnight oil for y'all tonight. Finished the 5-page printable Charsheet, so you can play IRL (or keep a backup in a more physical manner.) They're plain and not much to look at, but I hope ya like 'em. Give me any feedback. Also, if you want to redesign it to look better, feel free. But leave the placement roughly the same.
Nov 29, 2003, 2:24 PM
Made a blank Charsheet to use. Now working on a printable Charsheet.
Nov 28, 2003, 8:25 PM
Updated the Charsheet tutorial. I now added support for 'taurs, and listed all the 'taur available species.
Nov 28, 2003, 2:31 PM
The first Charsheet, and the tutorial on how to make it, are done. That's right, you heard me..
Paws of Pyriel is now open to play!
There's still tons and tons of work to do, but the barebones system is in place. Now that's something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. =3
Nov 27, 2003, 5:36 PM
Well, I still don't have a new HDD, but I've managed to get this crap PC (266 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 1.2 GB HDD) to work well enough to work on the page. So expect some work soon. And be thankful! It's thanksgiving! Also be thankful of this: I've extended all the currently due projects to Dec. 5. So even those of you who are extremely late have one last chance to get it done without penalty!
Updates:
Class Updates:
Added Snipers, Priests, Wizards, Lords, Assassins, Warlords, Artisans, Battlemages, Alchemists, Monks, Paladins, Bishops, Magitech Engineers, and Gunners. That completes all the Classes for now. I'll probably add more later, but for now, it's done!
Other stuff:
Established staff-wide mailing script for easy broadcasts. Check your emails often.
Added a poll about species. I need to cull them out some. So I put the 5 least popular up. The 3 with the most votes will be removed from the game.
Nov 13, 2003, 11:51 PM
My (Kirigaloo) HDD has failed critically. There is nothing I can do to help. It has failed unrecoverably. I will need a new HDD before I can get back online and get back to work. I unfortunately have neither the money, nor a job. I need around $100 for a replacement drive. Until I can find one, I won't be able to do any work. I ask staff to try their best to carry on in my absence. It may be weeks, or months. I'll be back when I can be. Thanks, and much love, Kirigaloo
Nov 12, 2003, 11:10 AM
Added Archers, Clerics, Mages, Knights, Rogues, Warriors, and Craftsmen. Now we got the second generation of classes! Soon i'll finish the advanced classes and start work on the Hybrid classes. Then see about adding a few new classes. Once classes are finished i'll start concise work on the species.
11:55 PM EST:
Fixed typos and left out info on Apprentices, Thieves, Fighters, and
Laborers. If anyone sees anymore typos or errors, lemme know!
And BTW.. WHEZZEW! S'a lot of work in a not a lot of time! Thanks to
Chazz for doing the Apprentice desc, and helping me bugsmush. =3
11:40 PM EST:
Elaborated Laborers, Fighters, Thieves, and Healers. They should be more descriptive now. Now to just check for any typos...
11:20 PM EST:
Added Laborers to the list.
11:15 PM EST:
Added Fighters to the list.
11:05 PM EST
Added Thieves to the list. Elaborated Squires and Apprentices.
10:50 PM EST
Added Squires to the list.
10:35 PM EST
Just added Apprentices to the list.
10:15 PM EST
Just added Healers to the list.
Nov. 10, 2003, 9:30 PM EST
Added some new classes, and added the requirements to the Class Reference Chart. Also made the beginnings of the Class List, and added the Bowmen data page. And added the Level Growth Chart. Once I finish the basic classes and the char sheets, this should provide the barebones for the system.
Nov. 9, 2003
I reversed all of the stats in the reference to be a bit easier. Now the stats work as a multiplier instead of a divider. Also prettied up the newzlist. And added the new Magitech Engineer class to the class references.

Well, Meeting 5 is over. We've FINALLY decided on a name! After coming || this close to just naming it 'Mind block', we decided on:
Paws of Pyriel
Oooh, aaah. Anywhoo, meeting 5 is here: Meeting5
Nov. 6, 2003
Well, after a short lived but very appreciative career as Head Artist, Fluffy Kau (AKA Kelly, Karda, etc.) has resigned as head artist. She explained her reasons to be as simply not having the time anymore, what with college and such.
I've promoted Severus Coil (AKA Magnanubis) to position as Head Artist. I'm sure he'll wake up to a bit of a shock today when he sees that in his mailbox!
Oct. 31, 2003

If you do come, bring ideas for a new RPG name!
